History

Malone Park was built in 1986, and was the last addition to be constructed at Fernald. Located in the far northwestern corner of the campus, these four units housed the most independent clients at the school, who could perform daily activities on their own (cooking, cleaning, etc). When Fernald was shuttered, it was discovered that the marshland these homes were situation on were illegally filled in by the state. In 2015, the Malone units were demolished to restore the natural wetlands they stood upon.
